HISTORIAN
For more than 30 years Jim Hamilton, who was
born in Coalburn in 1922, worked tirelessly in recording
the history of the village and, in doing so, amassed an
amazing collection of photographs and
documents.

PHOTOGRAPHER
Though living in Hamilton, Jim was always seen with
his camera in Coalburn at all the usual events - the
annual Flower Show, the Bowling Green, Old Folks Treats
and, of course, the Gala Day. He was always
regarded as the main photographer on the day despite the
press being invited.

AUTHOR
Jim published two books which led to him
receiving recognition from The British Library as a mark
of the regard in which he was held.
